Boston Public Health Commission Ryan White Part A Needs Assessment Project
CISWH staff conducted a needs assessment and performance gap analysis of the core support services for people living with HIV/AIDS in the Boston Eligible Metropolitan Area (EMA). The project served as a guide to help the Ryan White (RW) Planning Council make informed decisions regarding funding of HIV services. It examined the barriers that prevent people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA), both in care and out of care, from receiving needed services or from continuing in care. Data were gathered through consumer and provider surveys and focus groups with special populations including women and gay men of color.
The needs assessment provides recommendations to the RW Planning Council in the Boston EMA on models of care for reducing barriers to linkage and retention in care and achieving viral suppression among populations of interest.
